Coaching didn’t make me a “barefooter” but a coaching mindset led me to give up shoes for the last six years and counting.

New Thinking

I read an article about the human foot. A fourth of the bones in body are in our feet. They form three different arches that are designed to support our weight when standing, walking, and running. The nerves are as dense on our soles as they are on our hands. Like a plaster cast, a shoe immobilizes that structure and covers up those nerve endings.

New Awareness

It is legal to drive barefoot in all 50 states. No health code prohibits being barefoot in grocery stores, restaurants, or convenience marts.

A question

What would it be like to go barefoot for a week?

Moving Forward

I feel like I’ve taken off a blindfold. It’s comfortable. It’s simple. It grounds me in the present moment. It’s uniquely “me”. It’s socially edgy, like body-piercing, and dares people to misjudge me.
